How to Glaze a Ham Like a Legend 

Ah, the festive ham,  a centrepiece of many an Australian table, glistening under the light, sticky and caramelised, smelling of good times. If you’ve ever thought glazing one sounded intimidating, relax. With our Gourmet Sticky Maple Ham Glaze, it’s not only easy, it’s downright enjoyable.

Allow yourself about 40 minutes to an hour, and maybe crack open something cold. Glazing should be joyful, not stressful.


Ingredients

  • 1 pasture-raised Food Farm ham, skinned and scored

  • 1x 500 ml Food Farm Gourmet Sticky Maple Ham Glaze

  • 1 (or more) bottle of your favourite recreational beverage


Method

  1. Get set up.
    Preheat your oven to around 170°C. Take your ham and glaze out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature.
    Pour yourself a drink while you’re waiting, this is a celebration, not an exam.

  2. Get messy.
    Unwrap your ham, remove the skin, and place it lovingly in a baking tray. Give the glaze a little stir (because the good stuff likes to settle) and squeeze a generous layer over the whole ham, making sure it gets into every scored groove. If you're adding cloves, stud them in wherever you like in your beautiful ham.

  3. Into the oven it goes.
    Pop it in and pour yourself another sip. Every 15 minutes or so, take it out, baste it with the juices in the tray, and add another spoonful of glaze. Watch as the magic happens, the sticky maple caramelising into golden perfection.

  4. Admire your handiwork.
    When it’s glossy, burnished, and smelling like heaven itself, take it out and let it rest. Try not to tear off a crispy edge (we won’t judge if you do).
