Meet our Berkshire pigs. They’re the ones with their noses in the grass in this photo, and they’re a big part of what we love about farming.
We raise them on pasture, grow them slowly and feed them certified organic feed. We’re the only producer in Australia feeding certified organic feed to pasture-raised pigs. It’s something we’re proud of, and something we probably haven’t talked about enough.
When we talk about pasture-raised pork, we’re talking about how the pigs live. Having room to move, forage, root around and investigate whatever has caught their attention. What we feed them matters to us, too. The certified organic feed is a deliberate choice, alongside raising a heritage breed and allowing time for them to grow.
There’s a lot that goes into a piece of pork before it reaches your kitchen. We want you to know about those choices, rather than having to guess from a label.
And then comes the lovely part: cooking it.
A pork shoulder in the oven on a Sunday. Chops for dinner with potatoes and a salad from whatever’s in the fridge. Something good to eat, without needing to make a whole occasion of it.
Our pasture-raised Berkshire pork is also behind our Christmas hams. We think about where those hams will end up: on the table with family, sliced for someone who’s arrived late, and back out of the fridge for sandwiches the next day.
Feeding people is a good reason to get up and do this work. We hope you enjoy our pork, whether you’re cooking for a full house or just making yourself a decent dinner.
